Welcome mat

Aren't welcome mats usually placed on the outside of a house rather than the inside? :)

Aren't nagging wives usually less attractive than that?~!!

Actually, nagging wives are often quite attractive, because attractive women are generally more demanding and selfish.

I hate women.

Nope... hotter wives/gf's are bigger naggers, because the hotter they are the more nagging they can get away with.

Also, I used to put a welcome mat on the inside... If you live in an apartment building or in the city, say, where you don't really have an outside doorstep?

agreed... I don't let my average looking wife get away with anything more than "minor nagging" yet hot girlfriends of the past were allowed more of a nagging allowance.
H=(N^2/x)
x = how good they are in the sack

Or if you're like me and don't want your neighbors to steal it!

Rob's been to my apartment a few times, either he's subtly poking fun at me or my pragmatic welcome mat skills are showing their lunacy.

Not in my experience. The nagging makes them seem less attractive, but in my experience the less attractive women go out of their way to make you happy - because they are afraid to lose you.

Looks kind of like an apartment type of setup because the key hole is also on the outside. The sign above the door could suggest it being outside as well. Note though, that my use of outside refers to a common corridor that allows entry to apartments.

However, the mat is turned in a way to suggest that people coming through the door would read it... AND why would the wife be outside in slippers? Sorry, been watching way to much Columbo lately... :^)

Their shadows are falling on the door in a northeast direction. This means the source of light was coming from a southwesterly point. From this conclusion, if we extrapolate further upon the known placement angle of the 'Welcome' mat, we can determine that the joke is lost on those who nitpick small details.

We do too, but the inside one doesn't say "welcome". That's normally the outdoor one's job.

Night Vision Goggles

I see this all the time locally... it is amazing seeing the number of senior citizens camped out in front of Walmart at 8PM the previous day just to get some of the deals... alot of the ads I have seen is mostly junk or old technology so I will not be doing any Black Friday shopping myself, I think the wife has a few hours worth of stops (compared to previous years where it was all day).

Yeah they do. SOme people are crazy about this stuff. They camp out for 6-12-18 hours before the store even opens. And for what? to save $50, $100, $200?

I dont have the free time, or the will to do that. Let alone, the fact of standing in a line for 12 hours to spend my money. No thanks!

But for some its a yearly ritual, more power to them!

I'm sort of glad we don't have Black Friday here in Canada. Here's a tip, buy the item at full price a couple days before, then return it when it goes on sale and they'll usually discount you. Best Buy allows you to do this within two weeks of sale. I got $100 off my PS3 that way. No lines.

BTW, saving $50, $100, or $200 is a pretty big deal. I don't know what this guy does for a living.

We do have our version of Black Friday, it's called Boxing Day - on Dec 26. In fact last year some retailers were running those sales online early, on Christmas day itself! And the sales did not suck last year for the first time in a long while (e.g. $100 for Harmony 880, or a PS3 when there was none to be found).

Unfortunately, your tip does not work for one-day doorcrasher limited quantity special sales like these (besides, everyone would do what you suggested if it was true). In normal cases, you can always come back within 30 (or 15 days depending on item) and get the price difference refunded, like you did with PS3. During holiday season, this period is even extended all the way to first week of January in some stores so you could shop in November and get your refund after Christmas if the price is lower. However, the low price must be in effect when you're doing the so-called "price protection". So, you while you could get the price refund if you lined up on Boxing Day / Black Friday, that would defeat the purpose of what you're trying to do in the first place. Plus, majority of stores do not open the customer service department on these days anyway.

b.) Is an editor of DailyTech. ;-)
c.) HDDVD Fanboy.

Got back from BF today...
By timmiser on 11/23/2007 5:21:40 PM , Rating: 2
Picked up a Quad core Q6600 cpu with motherboard for $198 at Fry's. Here is my story of Black Friday 2007:

My main goal was to get one of those quad core processors. When I got there at 4:30am with about 1000 people in line in front of me and freezing my butt and ears off, the mind plays tricks on you and you start thinking that at least half of those 1000 want the quad core too. I mean, who doesn’t?? So why freeze any longer... just go home. Well, all you have to do is turn around and look behind you and see the 2000 people in line behind and then start feeling better about the hopeless situation. Then I’m thinking, why are there so many people here. Fry’s only had 1 ad in the paper and it was on the back of a news section…they didn’t even have their own circular! But after listening to the people in line around me, it was obvious that since this next closest Fry’s is in San Francisco, this is the one store in all of Washington State. Then you start thinking about the Best Buy and Circuit City circulars where they say on their door buster items something like “Min 5 items in stock per store… No rainchecks” OK, if they only have 5 or 10 of the quad cores, I’m really screwed… AND I’m Freakin Freezing! I hear from another person that the line started at 7pm last night. The people in line around the first corner of the store have been here since midnight. I had to park about a half mile away and walk from there. At 5am the store opens but it would still take 10 minutes for the line to even start moving where I’m at and then another 20 minutes to get into the already packed store. Once in, I slowly work my way through mass people to the computer department. For high value things like processors, you have to have a salesman fill out a ticket for you. Guess what, there is a line for that. It goes down the length of an entire isle. Another line to stand in. Finally they get to me and I order my processor. First good news is they still have them! They take my name and phone number and enter my order into their computer. There is a ticket that will print out so you must wait around the desk for them to call your name out with the ticket. I wait and wait but they don’t call my name. Apparently there was a snafu and they had to reprint my ticket. They finally call my name and give me my ticket. What do you do with a ticket you ask? You take it to the cashier at the front of the store which is where they keep the processors in the security cage. OK, so now off to the cashiers to pay for the item and pickup the processor. Fry’s has 70 cash registers and all 70 are up and running but believe it or not, there is another line. This is a line of epic proportions. If you have ever been inside of a Fry’s, you know it is a huge store and there is a restaurant/cafe in the middle of this one. The line zig zagged back and forth around the front and then it went all the way to the back of the store. After it hit the back of the store it went down to the next isle and came back all the way to the front entrance. From there it took a U-turn and went all the way to the back of the store again. Once back there it turned west and went all the way to the back corner, then it turns down the last aisle and heads back towards the front of the store. It would get even longer later. After an hour it became apparent that there was pretty much nobody actually shopping anymore. The isles where the line wasn’t were all empty. 90% of the people in the store were actually standing in line! I finally end up at Cashier # 54 with my ticket. The nice young man confirms to me it is a crazy day and wondered what time I got here this morning. He takes my ticket and goes to the high value safety cage. Guess what, there is a line of about 10-15 people he has to stand in consisting of other cashiers with tickets in their hands. After another 15 minutes he comes back with the precious quad core processor. There is a rebate he needs so he is off again to another cashier only line of getting the rebate forms. That one only took 5 minutes and after standing in the short line of people at the exit waiting for some dude to draw a pink highlighter line on your receipt, I am finally good to go!

3 ½ hours later, I’m outta there with my quad core in hand and a couple 750GB hard drives and saved about $250 once all my rebates come back!

One of the nice things about Fry's vs, the other electronics stores, is that when they have deals like this they typically have quantities in the hundreds, rather than the single digits.

And I must admit that the simple fact of the comic being in colours (rather than the usual b/w) below a title saying "BLACK friday" made me LOL quite a bit :D

Am I the only one to find that funny? I hope not, as I already feel to geekly dumb already for laughing so much about that silly detail.
