Option 3

Apple people really don't care what we think. I personally think their hardware is decent but I dislike iTunes so much that Apple could make the most appealing hardware and I would not get it. No iTunes for me!

I always see people commenting on their hatred of iTunes, and I've yet to really understand why. I will agree it was a COMPLETE MESS in previous generations but since the introduction of icloud and all that, you don't even need to plug your device into your pc to for initial setup/activation through itunes. All setup is done on the device itself now. I have not used itunes with my iphone since the 3G.

I only now had to install it on my pc recently to copy over some audiobook purchases I made on my ipad, because they do not sync over icloud right now like music, movies, tv shows, and game purchases do. I'm sure that update is coming as soon as the publishers allow it.

But quite literally I have survived my iphone and ipad existence without the use of itunes for a few years. Once they made it easy to redownload content onto your phone/tablet that you already purchased, itunes became irrelevant and icloud was the final nail. The App store, iBooks store, and the itunes music store on device itself is all you need these days, you could live without a mac or pc and still have backups, synced and updated content between devices, and everything.

So I have an iphone and an ipad, and no itunes for me either. Right now the only thing I can see itunes on the pc/mac being needed for as far as phones/tablets go is syncing audiobooks between devices. Every other form of content is synced automatically through the free icloud service.

So knowing that itunes is no longer necessary unless you like it as a media player or buying content on your laptop/desktop - does that make a difference in your opinion at all?

"I have survived my iphone and ipad existence"

Sorry, I don't believe you. Even to use the IPAD, you had to register it using Itunes. Apples recent desire is to eliminate any use of PC's...and thus the reason for working on eliminating the software install. You still have to use Itunes for any content access.

Apple's requirement of Itunes is part of its controlled ecosystem. At least with can shop at other app stores. Apple controls YOUR use of its products from all sides/dimensions.

You may have consumed the cool-aid, but not everyone has. You can fool your self....but thats as far as it goes.

Does Google require you run a special software on your pc in order to utilize the Google Play store? Every time you pick up your Nexus 7 and buy a game, do you then get your micro USB cable, connect it to your laptop, load up the Google Play software, and then sync the game to your tablet? No...I certainly hope not lol, why do you expect Apple to be any different?

The day you bought your Nexus 7, you logged in (or created) your account on your device, loaded up the store, then started downloading apps, games, music, tv shows, movies, and everything else you enjoy. Replace "Nexus 7" above with "iPad" and the statement remains just as true.

Apple requires no software to be run on Windows or OSX for an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to be set up, operate, or purchase, enjoy, or re-download content in any way. That includes games, movies, music, apps, ibooks, etc but does not currently include audiobooks. If you buy an audiobook on your ipad, you do need itunes to get it to your iphone, as I already pointed out.

Guess you never had to rebuild a system that was messed up by iTunes.
When Windows 7 64 bit came out, I had a couple users install iTunes on thier systems, and is so corrupted the OS I ended up having to do a fresh wipe/install.

thank you for option 3

Ipad price

On the other hand, if you have no intention of even considering buying one, who cares what you think?

I'd imagine apple does..

Afterall every one is a potential customer.. It's up to them to change your view on it. I voted the third option.. Hell I had no idea they made a mini and I don't see why they would.. but that's just me and I don't own any apple products. Not a hater, just have no use for them.

Apple's using old internal components from its Iphone 4 in the new mini pad and will make more Billions off of the IFollowers who buy....yet again......another of Apples umpteen generations of its limited product line.

Apple's proven it can make BILLIONS knowing that fools will buy their products again and again (even wait in lines overnight)....for incremental improvements in its singular products.

One phone, one tablet...and people still willing to buy the old versions just to be seen with an apple product and included in the mass cult. Clueless fools IMO, but there are a lot of clueless people in todays society.

I look at being anti-Apple as being similar to being pro-Democracy.

I support freedom. If you can't take your music, videos and books with you to any device you choose, that isn't freedom. That is enslavement.

i guess if you buy from iTunes...I could see that being annoying.

But Winamp kicks the llamas ass.

Except you can choose to not buy an Apple product at any time, so quit with the "freedom" crap. It's an electronics company, not congress. How about you shift that "free speech" to somewhere it might matter.

well, that's true. oh wait, except when apple keep suing competitors for (what is it this week?) making a device that uses a battery? that's probably been patented by apple by now too.

seriously though, if you want to use an apple device - fine. i don't care. i do care that they are trying to limit my choices by screwing the system and trying to knobble the competition. screw apple, they will never ever get a penny of my money. i'd rather go back to a nokia dumbphone than use an iphone, either that or a windows phone. near enough :p

If you ever buy an Apple product, good luck taking most of your media (especially books) with you if you decide to switch platforms in the future... Apple wants to lock you down and force you to buy into their ecosystem to the point that you'd lose a lot if you ever decided to switch.
