PC gaming is where it is at for me, I must have freedom over the software, hardware, and other applications.

That said, the Xbox360 and PS3 do perk my interest but the Xbox360 needs to cure the failure rate which I recall being ~50%, the Red Ring of Death issue should be fixed as well.

I have no intention of buying, I'm sure Microsoft will do another sweeping ban and I if I want one, there will be plenty of cheap X360s floating around on Craigslist.

Im in the middle.

FPS, RTS, Strategy gaming go to my PC.
Netflix, Racing, quirky fun style games generally on the 360.

I have a Jasper 360 and have not had any issues with it. I have not seen any issues with RROD around Jasper units. I do find a lot of people think they have a Jasper with RROD but do not. Im sure some people have but I'm quite positive the RROD with Jasper is very low. Simply because Everyone I know with an actual Jasper has not had any issues with thier unit.

The typical failure rate is not that high, except perhaps on the original units which had 90nm CPU *and* GPU *and* inadequate cooling. The models have been improving every redesign of the board. Also the RROD is simply the symptom of a failure - not a cause. So saying "they need to cure the failure rate" and "the RROD issue should be fixed as well" makes it obvious you know absolutely nothing about the issues except for some random FUD you read.

Jasper is already really solid, and that's been out for a while. That is to say that regular off the shelf 360s are using Jasper, and they're good. So you could nab a $150 Arcade unit, a Premium, or an Elite, and be fine. The new Slims use even less power and produce even less heat, so they should be quite reliable too.

I really didn't get one primarily cause of the RROD failures. 1 out of every 3 had some kind of problem. Ouch! Hopefully, they've learned their lesson and see just how much potential the new one has when you do it the right way. Just by putting in a big fan, and integrating the CPU/GPU together they'll save money and cost for the system, and there's word that an Arcade XBox 360 Slim is on the way by this holiday season, and it's supposed to come with 120GB hard drive that was in the Elite (fingers crossed on this one!). Yes, it looks like the PS3 has its run for its money coming this holiday season, should be great!!

Already have 2 360s (original and an elite). Wife and I were already talking about getting a third one before the new one came out, and the new one will be this one since it'll have the integrate wireless and be much quieter?

Why 3? Waistful spending (haha, maybe a little excess), but what other way for 300 bucks gives me access to my media center, netflix, hopefully hulu, and all my movies and music are on the freenas box to be streamed out, plus play games. 360 on each tv is a convenient way to get to all of this content.

Only thing i wish MS would do is allow me to have my profile on all three systems simultaneously.

for me was around 2 hours from seeing the first info and pics on the new 360 yesterday to trading in my "old" elite system at Gamestop and reserving my new, shiny 360 model!

I figured:

1. A larger HDD for a good price vs buying seperatetly. The 250gig is $130 alone
2. A brand bew HDD *new = longer till failure*
3. Redesigned console *I'm a nerd, so I'm easy*
4. Cooler and quieter running 360 *A big bonus when playing games like Mass Effect*
5. Dedicated port to run Kinetic add on vs power and usb cables

Justification enough for me. YMMV
