Apple store is down for maintenance
When Apple plans an event of any type, the tech world and geeks alike get excited. Apple is having its annual iPod event today and the Apple Store is now officially offline for updates with new products expected.
Apple fans not looking forward to new products as much as they are looking forward to price cuts on existing products will like that prices were changed on existing iPod models before the store went down. AppleInsider reports that before the store went offline several iPods saw price drops.
The most notable price reduction was on the 32GB iPod touch with its price being slashed from $399 to $279. The 16GB touch also went to $149 from $189, and the 8GB touch went from $149 to $129. The iPod classic got a miniscule $20 price cut to $229.
The store went down about 10am today according to reports. It could be assumed from these cuts that a new higher capacity iPod touch is coming, or the cuts could be to make room for updated touch players with the cameras that have been rumored to be coming and somewhat verified by the glut of cases with camera cutouts that have been spied.
"It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that." -- Microsoft COO Kevin Turner
