Apple knocks it out of the park with iPhone 5s, 5c sales

A year after the launch of the iPhone 5, Apple is once again touting impressive launch day sales figures. This time around, Apple announced that it sold over nine million iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s smartphones during the first three days of availability.
To put that in perspective, when the iPhone 5 launched last year, it sold 5 million units during the first weekend. However, one must take into account that Apple launched two new models this year instead of just one, and China was included in launch day figures this time around.
Despite these sticking points, 9 million units moved in three days is still an impressive number for any smartphone company.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet?more than nine million new iPhones sold?a new record for first weekend sales,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”
Also mentioned in Apple's press release was the fact that following its official debut on September 18, there are already 200 million devices running iOS 7. Apple went on to say that this makes iOS 7 the "fastest software upgrade in history". In the words of the late Steve Jobs, "BOOM!"
