No ETA on the fix at this time

Apple has been dealing manufacturing issues with some of its most popular revamped products. Apple has admitted there was a manufacturing defect with the battery in some iPhone 5S smartphones. That defect meant that the batteries can take longer to charge and didn't last as long once a full charge was achieved.

Apple has now admitted that there is an issue on the new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro notebook. Apple says that it is aware of the keyboard and trackpad issue on the new 13-inch notebook computers and is currently working on a fix. A number of users have complained of that both the keyboard and the trackpad of the new notebooks will freeze randomly, requiring a reboot to fix. There is currently a huge thread over at the Apple Support Communities that details the problem.

For its part, Apple wrote, "Apple is aware of rare circumstances where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Late 2013) computers and is working on an update to resolve this behavior."

Apple is also suggesting a way to help users try and resolve the input issue until the official fix lands. Apple says that MacBook Pro users who encounter the input issue should try putting the computer to sleep by closing the computer display for about a minute before opening the display up again to see if the machine resumes normal functionality.

This typically happens with every new iOS release... you just expect to see the problems on older hardware and not brand new hardware.

It's also telling that the problems are still there on the x.0.3 version of the software.

It's bad that it happens at all to IOS devices. They literally release one device per year in each class, and don't have to support multiple SOC's, resolutions, DPI levels or any hardware options at all. It's frustrating, but easy to understand when it happens to Windows and Android - they have to support everything from every vendor, but Apple just needs to support Apple and only a small feature set at that.

Oh well, I am sure they will work it out. Maybe the 7.0.4 version will be better.

Every year they have to support a few extra older devices. The horror that it must cause them to increase their test matrix from 6 devices to 8 devices :)

There are alot of quality issues at Apple lately.

Lately? Can you remember a time when there wasn't?

I forgot about this one... This came Monday from one of our vendors support teams (Smartwebs)

"Smartwebs IOS Users 10/28/2013

Dear Smartwebs IOS Users,

IOS7 continues to have problems with crashing applications across the internet. Even Facebook is having troubles caused by the new IOS. Our recommendation to all customers, at least for now, is to keep your IPads and IPhones on IOS6.
Unfortunately, if you have already upgraded your devices to IOS7, there is really no way to revert back to IOS6"

The iPad Air is also getting hammered with poor durability scores and complaints. It's just way too thin and doesn't provide enough structural rigidity to keep the screen from flexing and breaking.

Maybe this is why their products barely change from year to year, because when they do anything other than iterative products, it all goes to sh*t.

Of course it has poor durability. Some of us saw that coming with the ever increasing drive to be thinner and lighter. Like you said, it has reached a point where these devices are just too thin and light to possibly have structural integrity. I do not understand this obsession with thin phones and tablets.

Not sure, exactly, how one "fixes" a feature?? More fairy dust??

"Game reviewers fought each other to write the most glowing coverage possible for the powerhouse Sony, MS systems. Reviewers flipped coins to see who would review the Nintendo Wii. The losers got stuck with the job." -- Andy Marken
