Apple Re-Launches Elderly iPhone 4 in India

The price tag will be Rs 22,900 (about $370 USD)
Apple originally introduced the iPhone 5C alongside the high-end 5S to provide a slightly broader price range. However, at just a $100 USD difference, the 5C isn't the budget phone we all thought it would be.
That's why Apple is re-launching the iPhone 4 in India. According to
, Apple's iPhone sales in the country have dropped significantly because the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are both much too expensive next to other options, such as Android and Windows Phone.
However, even the iPhone 4 doesn't seem to be re-launching at a super budget price. The
says the price tag will be Rs 22,900 (about $370 USD). This isn't terribly affordable, considering the phone shipped in 2010 for Rs 26,000, and that was four [smartphone] generations ago.
The iPhone 4 re-launch in India will only offer 8GB models, and have specs consisting of a 1GHz single core CPU, a PowerVR SGX535 GPU, 512MB RAM, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 1420mAh Li-Po battery, and a 3.5-inch 640 x 960 pixel IPS LCD screen.
These features are certainly outdated, and Indian consumers can purchase smartphones with better features for less money from Android and Windows Phone competitors.
The iPhone 4 re-launch is a solution to the fact that the iPhone 5C, which was long touted as an "affordable" iPhone -- especially for markets like China and India where they don't have the subsidies that the U.S. does.
But it remains to be seen whether the iPhone 4 will take off once again, either.
