AT&T will launch Motorola Karma on June 28
AT&T announced today that it was extending an agreement with Alcatel-Lucent that covers AT&T supplied network equipment. The two companies also extended an agreement that has Alcatel-Lucent supplying AT&T with equipment for its U-verse TV and Internet service that is still in deployment stages in many parts of the country.
AT&T also says that it will be launching a new mobile phone from Motorola called the Karma. The Karma is a basic phone that is aimed at those who like to keep in touch via messaging and social networks. The Karma has a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The handset can access the AT&T 3G network and will launch on June 28 for $79.99 after a mail-in rebate and a new service agreement. The features of the Karma include a 2-megapixel webcam, a 3.5mm headphone jack and pre-loaded software and icons for Facebook and MySpace. The device also supports GPS and AGPS.
AT&T is currently the second largest service provider in America and has profited greatly off of being the exclusive official carrier of Apple's iPhone in the U.S.
