Both AMD and ATI reach the final stages of the merger

ATI announced this week that it has received an interim order from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to allow it to mail out documents and information to shareholders. The order also allows ATI and AMD to host an official shareholders meeting to approve the final merging of the two companies. ATI said in a release that it will commence mailing of the required materials to its shareholders starting on September 15th, which is this Friday. So far, both AMD and ATI have seen smooth sailing up until this point. From the press release:

ATI intends to commence mailing the meeting materials, including the Notice of the Meeting, Management Information Circular and form of Proxy, to shareholders of record as at September 1, 2006. The special meeting of ATI shareholders to approve the combination will be held at 9:00 a.m. (Toronto time) on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel, 37 King Street East, Toronto, Ontario.

The final stage requires that ATI's shareholders officially approve of the merger. As DailyTech previously reported, both AMD and ATI received official government regulatory anti-trust clearances earlier th is month. The two companies received blessings from government bodies within the Canada, the US and in Germany.

The outlook so far has been fairly good for both AMD and ATI. Both companies have announced forward looking plans on actions to work together to develop technologies. According to what was previously stated, AMD and ATI will continue to develop products for which they are known for, all while utilizing each other's capabitilies and strengths. AMD will also continue to work with NVIDIA on its nForce platform.

I was just trying to post about that but the site threw some fruity error at me. None of the 5's of this month are Saturdays, 5th 15th or 25th.

Canada is singular, like Germany... should read "Canada, the US and in Germany."
