Radeon Xpress 1250 will be ATI's only AVIVO capable chipset in the near future
Radeon Xpress 1250, complete with AVIVO
DailyTech has learned ATI’s upcoming RS600 integrated graphics chipset for Intel LGA775-based processors has been named Radeon Xpress 1250.
The Radeon Xpress 1250 has a Radeon X700 derived graphics core with support for HDMI with HDCP compatibility. An HDCP-DVI TMDS transmitter is integrated into the Radeon Xpress 1250 core logic too. There’s no word if the Radeon Xpress 1250 will support the recently finalized HDMI 1.3 specification or HDMI 1.1 like the Sapphire Radeon X1600Pro HDMI. ATI’s AVIVO video processing engine with hardware acceleration for H.264, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD video formats. Windows Vista Premium with Aeroglass interface will also be supported by the IGP chipset.
It doesn’t appear the Radeon Xpress 1250 will be a complete replacement for ATI’s current Radeon Xpress 200. Instead the Radeon Xpress 1250 will be aimed towards digital home users while the Radeon Xpress 200 will continue to cater towards business users -- including Windows Vista Premium with Aeroglass support. Whether or not Radeon Xpress 1250 based systems will receive Intel Viiv branding is unknown. Radeon Xpress 1250 motherboards have been spotted at Computex from ECS and are expected to arrive during the August-September time frame. Mid-2007 will bring another ATI chipset, the RS700. Naming of the RS700 chipset is unknown though.
ATI's Xpress 1600 and 3200 chipsets, though older, are still the company's flagship CrossFire products. ATI will also release RD600 later this year, a non-IGP version of RS600 specifically for CrossFire.
