AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) will be shutting down for good after a good long run.

Almost everyone back in the 90’s has had those AOL disks come in the mail advertising America Online products. One such product was AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) app.  The Instant Messenger app was mostly used during back in 1997 forward.  I remember using AOL Instant Messenger to chat with family and friends. I even had lots of fun playing games on Instant Messenger.

The new Verizon company called Oath, has announced that AOL Instant Messenger will be sending it last Instant Message on December 15th.  I stopped using AOL and Instant Messenger a very long time ago when I dropped dial-up and went to cable.

According to Michael Albers, VP of communication for Oath, "AIM tapped into new digital technologies and ignited a cultural shift, but the way in which we communicate with each other has profoundly changed,". Albers added. "We are more excited than ever to continue building the next generation of iconic brands and life-changing products for users around the world."
