Metal Gear Solid 4 to speak English; Orange Box turns gold; UT3 gets a collector's tin and more

While the gaming industry is still recovering from the Tokyo Game Show last week, Xbox 360 gamers everywhere are now glued in front of their televisions playing Halo 3. It’s been a busy couple week in the world of gaming, but the news rolls on as usual.

Unreal Tournament 3 Collector’s Edition Revealed
Found first on GameStop is information on a special $10-more edition of UT3 on PC. As part of the special set are a tin box, hard cover art book, unlockable character and bonus DVD with making-of featurettes and toolkit tutorials. No such edition has been listed for the PS3 version.

Metal Gear Solid 4 English Demo in Production
Noted on the official Kojima Productions podcast with producer Ryan Payton is that the developer is now working on an English-language demo. The version shown at TGS was in Japanese, but that didn’t stop it from capturing the hearts of the foreign press – including our own.

While everyone would expect that such a demo would hit the PlayStation Network, Kojima Productions has a history of bundling hot demos with other games from the same studio. For example, the MGS2 demo was bundled with Zone of the Enders – but presently, MGS4 will be the only release from Kojima Productions.

The Orange Box Gone Gold
That’s right, Valve’s next gem is officially done and off to replication. Those who pre-ordered the game are likely too busy playing Team Fortress 2 right now to read this.

Warhammer 40,000 Standalone Expansion Announced
THQ announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm, from Relic Entertainment, is scheduled for release on Windows PC in spring 2008.

Project Gotham Series Developer Bizarre Creations Acquired by Activision
Microsoft’s force behind the PGR series will not be returning to make a fifth instalment, as Activision has bought the UK-based developer.

It's sad to think that only around 10,000 people are enjoying TF2 (at any given time) right now while apparently 1,000,000 people are playing Halo 3 on live.

TF2 is an order of magnitude better.

I haven't played Halo 3, and I probably never will since the last time they ported a Halo game it flopped horribly, but there's no way Halo 3 can have as much pizazz and character as TF2. I love all the little comments the characters make, and the taunts. They're all hilarious.

All the game needs is a little balancing.

Word up...

TF2 is one of the best games I've played in a long time.

After re-reading you article the FIFTH time, I see that your words do not contradict the facts. Sorry. I hate that when you don't see it until AFTER you make a fool of yourself.

ZoE, not ZoE2, had MGS2 demo

The Sons of Liberty demo was included in Zone of the Enders, not Zone of the Enders 2. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Ah yeah, you're right. ZOE2 was actually worth buying on its own. :P

I rented ZOE just for the MGS2 demo. God, that was orgasmic.

Then the full game came out, and Raiden along with it, and my thoughts could be summed up with: "WTF? Where's Snake!?"

Then I played the last third of it, and I was really befuddled.

1) ZOE 1 was dissapointingly short. Excellent gameplay, perhaps if it was mech-combat based as a H2H combat sim, that would be interesting. Something like... infiltrating buildings... mission based stuff. Limited shooting.

2) MGS4 looks awesome but I dunno if im going to be buying a PS3 anytime soon.

3) I found a scam-looking ad that says if you sign up for 6 of their sponsors products that they will SHIP you a 360 Elite and a copy of Halo 3, without putting you in any raffle. Thats sounds a bit crazy but its a nasty legal hook if you SAY you will ship it and not enter the individual into a "chance to win" the item. While that would be a great deal, I'd be opening myself up to recurring payments at best, and at least a significant amount of additional E-Ads, Etc.. etc.. But then... Where would they get a copy of Halo 3 unless they pre-ordered several copies?
I will investigate the fine print of this offer later. For anyone who is interested at looking into it themselves.. heres the link. http://pchegdykbuw.info/lkfnds?FKXUxLUQWJHR4IAE.dH...
View at your own risk. I looked preliminarily, and no red alerts.

4) Does anyone know if Halo Wars will be ported to the PC after they stop reeling from the sales and media attention?
I remember Command & Conquer Red Alert for the Playstation... and I would rather grind my teeth than play something like that again. Mouse and Keyboard for the 360 yet?
