I wish I could afford an i7, I hate being stuck with a Q6600 :(

If you want to give your system a swift kick to the nuts, I would highly - HIGHLY recommend a OCZ Vertex (or similar) SSD to replace your platter hard drive. It will give you a more noticeable day-to-day boost than any other upgrade.

I've got a Q6600 running stock at the moment. Every time I swoon over a new CPU upgrade, I keep thinking "Sweet! Now I can do so many more cool things!" But you know what actually happens? I upgrade my system, spend hundreds of dollars, immediately try out lots of stuff to justify the purchase in my mind, then revert to my regular habits of surfing the web and playing Halo once per week. LOL

A Q6600 would be a very nice upgrade for a lot of people, including me. I am still on a E2140.

Looks like Samsung needs to tweak their random write I/O (pretty pathetic) with some better firmware. Other than that, it seems to hover up near the Vertex, but never quite as fast. However, it looks like Vertex is still the cock of the walk.

While I'm still loving my G.Skill 64GB SSD, I don't think I'll upgrade again until a manufacturer can completely saturate the SATA-3Gbps connection with both reads and writes. I give it six more months before most SSDs reach this point. Hmm, that will be interesting. When every drive on the market is bandwidth limited by SATA-3Gbps, it'll be kinda boring.

Good thing their thinking ahead with all those PCIe RAID drives.
