Intel in 2006: "Don't buy an AMD X2 system now, wait for Core 2 Duo!"

Umm...what's are you suggesting? They STOP "doing this"? PC's are fast enough, so let's stop all development of processors?
Can't quite see what the heck you're on about...
The human race is about development, advancement, evolution, not treading water so people not at the cutting edge don't feel jealous that they can't afford the latest and greatest.

In a capitalist society, is it not the role of all companies to have you feel unsatisfied with what you currently have? look around your house and ask yourself if you really needed that "thing over there" to make you happy.
