Metal Gear Online beta hitting late April

Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition Revealed
Of all PlayStation 3 exclusive games this year, none has a higher anticipation level than Metal Gear Solid 4. In fact, Sony has created a special system bundle SKU specifically for Metal Gear Solid 4. To capture the hardcore fan of the series, many of whom already own a PS3, Konami has created a Limited Edition version of Metal Gear Solid 4, which will include a metal box, bonus Blu-ray Disc with extra documentaries, chapters from the graphic novel and an import soundtrack CD. The Limited Edition is now available for pre-order in the U.S. at GameStop for $84.99, or in Canada at EB Games for $79.99.

Metal Gear Online Beta Starts April 21
Those who pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4 should soon receive as a bonus a Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 disc packed with trailers and other anticipatory information. The real prize, however, will be a Metal Gear Online beta code that will allow pre-loading on April 17, what the beta commencing on April 21.

Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3 to Have Home Integration
Earning Achievements on Xbox 360 games is a big part of Microsoft’s hook into hardcore gamers. In fact, Achievements can be a selling point that would push a gamer to purchase the Xbox 360 version over a PlayStation 3 equivalent. That could soon change, however, as the latest issue of PSW states that Grand Theft Auto IV will feature integration with PlayStation Home, whenever it launches. Players of GTA IV on the PS3 can unlock special items for use on a Home Avatar, or other items to decorate one’s Home Space.

GTA IV Achievements Leaked
Of course, Xbox 360 gamers will happily continue to rack up as many of the 1,000 points that come packed with the retail release of Grand Theft Auto IV. This list supposedly has all the Achievements with the specific requirements on how to earn them. Be forewarned, the list will contain spoilers, so stay away if you’re looking to experience GTA IV fresh, stay away.

Multiplayer Mode Cut From Prototype
Co-op has been an increasingly important part of gaming, no doubt demonstrated by the recent releases of Army of Two and Rainbox Six Vegas 2. While multiplayer modes can greatly add to a gamer’s experience, sometimes a developer needs to concentrate all its efforts on the single player aspect. Such was the case for BioShock, and such hopes to be true for Sierra and Radical Entertainment’s Prototype. Radical’s Tim Bennison told TeamXbox his reasoning behind the multiplayer’s cut from the game.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Now On Europe PSN
North American gamers will have to wait until next month before getting their hands on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, but those in Europe can download it this instant from the PlayStation Store. The full download version will cost £24.99 or €39.99.

Actual Gran Turismo 5 Not Due till 2009
No matter how much the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will leave racing fanatics wanting, it’ll have to do. According to comments made by SCEA’s Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, the final GT5 is “still about a year away.”

Where's Kane's Wrath?

It makes me sad to see that Kane's Wrath once again got no mention. Who else here is a fan of Command and Conquer?

I haven't been a fan of C&C ever since EA bought Westwood. It has gone dramatically downhill since then.

C&C 2 was awful, Red Alert 2 was o.k. at best (they really nerfed your production/expansion capabilities compared with what made the original so great), the rest have been bleh.

I think they really screwed up with C&C 3. Supreme Commander destroys... well, annihilates C&C 3 in every way possible. Yet it fails to come even close to C&C 3's popularity due to name recognition :(

I was in a software store a few months back and a dude was looking at C&C 3 and I pointed out SupCom to him - he was like "I've never even heard of this).

Very sad :(

Far more depth, far more strategy, strategic zoom - the only thing weak is the single player. Multiplayer is like playing realtime RISK.

I think that sony dude is FOS. The full GT5 will more than likely be out by xmas. He just saying this so people will buy the prologue. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I really hope you're right! The only upside to GT5's release date being just this side of never is that by the time it comes out a PS3 might actually be cheap!

How much are PS3s in the states by the way?

Is there an exchange rate thing going on there too?

You can get a PS3(40GB) with GT5 prologue for £299 over here which doesn't seem to be that bad :)

(360 Elite with Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 is £279 for comparison)

I can't say I'm a big fan of this prologue business though, seem like a bit of a con in previous versions.

Maybe with the multi-player thing it's not so bad?

MGS 4 Cheaper in Canada?

Pardon if I sound ignorant, but why is the Limited Edition cheaper in Canada? Aren't games in general a little more expensive in CAN than the US?

US dollar is worth crap right now.
All my life the exchange rate at canada would yield a lot more money going up there. Right now if you look the USD is worth LESS than the CAD
If All prices show the same numbers then its actually more money for things in the states now.
