Halo 3 Heroic Map
Pack Taste Freedom
Microsoft loves seeing the revenue flow in from Xbox Live, even from selling
gamer pictures. Bungie, however, loves its Halo community too much to see it
splintered into the haves and have-nots for its downloadable multiplayer maps. So,
the publisher and developer decided that the maps for Halo 3 will be paid DLC
at first, later being made free. Those who haven’t already bought the Heroic
Map Pack may download it for free from Xbox Live.
Unreal Tournament
III Map Pack Released
On the topic of free map packs, Epic Games has released
bonus maps for Unreal Tournament III for both PC and PS3. The pack includes
three maps, including some old favorites: Morbias, Facing Worlds, and
Searchlight. Best of all, they’re completely free, even on the PlayStation
Network.
Microsoft Cool
with Master Chief on PS3 Game
On the topic of Halo and Unreal, skilled artists have created some custom models
for Unreal Tournament III which include playable characters Master Chief,
Marcus Fenix and Cloud Strife. For owners of only PS3, it could be the only way
they’ll experience shooting with the protagonists from Halo and Gears of War.
Surprisingly, Microsoft’s legal department thinks that having
Master Chief on the PS3 is great.
Ninja Gaiden II
Demo Coming in May
Ninja Gaiden is one of those classic series that gamers remember fondly from
their NES days. Tecmo was also able to reinvent the game for next-generation
platforms, with Ninja Gaiden II being one of the hottest games for Xbox 360
this summer. Fan will find it hard to wait until June 3 for the retail release,
but thankfully a playable demo is confirmed to arrive
sometime in May.
Metal Gear Solid
Movie Update
Producer Michael De Luca, who has worked with greats such as P.T. Anderson,
will be producing the Metal Gear Solid movie. While there is no denying that
the game series has an undeniable cinematic flair, very few franchises have
successfully made the jump from videogames to movies. De Luca revealed in
an interview that he feels the MGS movie will do better than other
videogame movies: “I think we have a leg up already in that it's such a rich
universe... what it says about war by proxy in this kind of future where war
has been outsourced to private companies I think can be almost very topical and
also kind of satirical in like a Robocop kind of way.”
