Best UMPC Yet?

The review of the UMPC is very favorable. Not sure if the memory is upgradeable past 768 megs (minus some for shared video) but it looks like the best UMPC (meaning the Micorsoft UMPC platform, not the idea in general) yet.

If they manage to get one of these with PS2.0 and Vista Aero compatibility in a year or so, I might just pick one up.

I've got big hopes for the ASUS Eee PC

Me too, but I really like the idea of the tablet-style UMPC with touch screen and everything. I dislike most current tablet designs that are just a laptop + swivel screen, so I'm hoping the the UMPC will take over more of the tablet market and get more powerful / cheaper as the userbase grows.

I remember reading a review of that in What Laptop magazine (I think) and it was for the Medion-branded version of the device. They concluded it was horrendously expensive and that the VIA CPU and chipset combo was utterly appalling (I think that was their wording) performing about on par with a Celeron 600Mhz (not the Celeron M, the old Celeron Coppermine). They also said the battery was particularly poor and the machine would get very hot with no real reason to.

I'm just saying, before everyone gets over-excited remember what powers this (if that's the right word) and with regards to looking good, I think the Sony UX series has been there and done much better (Core Solo powered).

It's clearly a case of opinion, but I definitely do not want one and the fact you've listed Vista as your choice OS shows we're not alike.
